"Vanden Robotics Supporters:
The Vanden High Robotics Team recently competed at the 2009 Davis Regional Robotics Competition against 43 other teams from California, Oregon, and Idaho. The Vanden Team won 6 of 9 matches, placing them in 8th. On Saturday, they went on to play in the elimination rounds allied with Davis High and Vallejo High but couldn't get past the quarterfinals. During the Awards Ceremony, the Vanden Team earned the "Judges Award" for their amazing overall accomplishments from robot design and construction, to team organization and leadership. The Vanden Team was also one of three teams recognized for their outstanding safety practices.
I've placed a few pictures on our website at ..
Our Vanden Team continues to inspire me with their efforts to work together in all aspects of the competition and their pursuit of FIRST's goals. While this marks the end of the 2009 season for us (except for the AutoDesk Inventor Competition - to be judged in the next 3 weeks), the students will soon begin preparing for next year with an ambitious list of offseason projects that might include... Construction of a new Crate/Pit, building a new robot cart, rebuilding our demo bot (AKA MecannonBot), Presentations to local schools, coordination of up to 5 FLL teams, starting 2-3 new FRC teams (VCS, Whitney High, WCW?), hosting a vex competition, and a science career night next fall.

Thank you to all the mentors and parents that have made this season possible, namely ...
Duane and Carla Murphy - 5 years and they still help out more and more each year.
Tim and Rachel Brown - If it needs to get done ASAP or finances need to be handled - they figure it out.
Mark Crusoe - the master of travel plans and willing to spend a weekend shopping for materials - ready to plan Atlanta?
Tom Smith - The after hours shop keeper. You say the heater is for the composites - but I think it was for you working in the cold of night.
Mark Weber - "tink-tink" thanks you and your many great ideas.
John Poe - the tools, the space, the mess, we couldn't even think about doing what we do if it wasn't for all your help and cooperation.
John and MaryJo Dickerson - the spirit award is coming one of these days - don't you worry.
Kas Rangan - always on top of things and giving helpful advice.
Steven and Chris Sigley - ready for more car washes, Air shows, and such?
Jim and Jahnine Spaulding - ready to do this again next year?
Werner Thelen - Labview mastermind!
Anthony Pirondini - plans things out on that blackberry before I can finish my sentence

I'd like to also thank the many volunteers who not just help out our team, but helped with the Davis Regional Competition itself. It is important to note how much volunteer work it takes to put on a Regional - There is very few paid FIRST employees that put this together - it is largely a volunteer effort!! So hats off to these folks...
