Team 701 is still in the Competition

It has been a while since any information has been posted here. That is because we went to Boston and made it to quarter finals. We received two trophies, but we lost the game. We went to Davis and made it to quarter finals. We received yet another trophy, but we lost the game again. We will not be going to Atlanta Georgia for the Nationals.

Amidst all this, we had plenty of fun and we cherished the experience gained, but we were still slightly crushed. When we returned from Davis, it was mentioned maybe once: our last chance to win something big was the Inventor Design Competition. Nothing else has been said since as we have waited in silent anticipation.

Our inventor committee, consisting of Troy Weber, Kim Penamora, and Ki-tae Wolf, was barely able to enter this year. It was enough for us, however, that this was the first year Vanden High School's Team 701 even entered the competition. Now, out of more than a hundred entries to the Inventor Design Competition, from teams all across the United States, five entries have been chosen as finalists for the judges to review. Team 701 one is among them. Just click to See For Yourself.

Now we wait with even more anticipation. Even if we do not win - and I feel I speak properly on behalf of Kim and Ki-tae and myself - we are simply honored to be within the top five and in our first year entering. The Award Ceremony where the Award Winners will be announced at the Nationals is on Saturday, April 18, 2009, from 1:00pm - 3:00pm. You may watch it either on NASA TV on your local cable provider or On NASA TV On The Web.

Good Job Team 701!
Cross your fingers...
